9th International student movement meeting and ECNU sports competition held

On the afternoon of 24 May, the 9th Sports Competition for international students, organized by the ECNU Global Education Center, was successfully held on the Gongqing Field at ECNU’s Putuo Campus. Around 200 students from all over the world gathered at the campus with delighted hearts, competing in such categories as the Group Rope-Skipping, Individual Obstacle Race, Five Dragon Crossing the River Competition, Tug-of-War and Puzzle Relay Race.

Lijun Jin, deputy director of ECNU Global Education Center, emphasized in the opening announcement that the students are expected to manifest their competencies and morale through the competition, while keeping in mind the Olympic Motto of “Faster, higher and stronger”. She wished for the sports competition to be a successful event at ECNU.

On the competition field, international athletes aimed for the ‘setting friendship before competition’ as their motto . An audience gathered at the competition to cheer for the competitors while they enjoyed the warm atmosphere at the field. Everyone at the event were moved by the perseverance and friendship shared among the athletes.

In the Group Rope-Skipping category, it was the Class 2-3 of Chinese Language Program that won the first place with the score of 172 skips within three minutes.

During the Five Dragon Crossing the River competition, team Kevins won the first place title at 13”52. Lukas M. Shilongo (male student) from Namibia and Park Sujin (female student) from Korea were the champions of the Individual Obstacle Race with the scores of 7’’88 and 11’’05 respectively.  

In the category of Tug-of-War, the team called ‘ECNU LEGENDS’ finally gained the championship after four rounds of close battles; the team ‘You Are Always Right’ achieved the second place title.

For the final event, team ‘Dui-Dui’ edged out team ‘Sworn Brothers’ with the score of 1’55” in the Puzzle Relay Race, where the disparity came at a slight 0.3 seconds differential.

International students at ECNU have not only increased their physical and mental health through the sports competition and events, but also they were seen as an enhancement to their teamwork skills. They communicated with one another  deeply. Many students expressed that they really enjoyed a meaningful afternoon on the ECNU campus.
