Established in 1952, the Ancient Coins and Historical Relics Museum was formerly the cultural relics exhibition room of the Department of History. The Museum has a rich collection of ancient coins, ranging from shell coins, cloth coins, sword coins, and round coins (circular coins with circular holes) of the pre-Qin period to copper coins, iron coins, silver ingots, and paper money of the Qin and Han dynasties and later, including all kinds of ancient coins for special purposes. The integrity and quality of the ancient money is unique among the universities in Shanghai, and it is one of the first university ethnic culture museums in Shanghai.
